5G Aquaculture Video Monitoring System to be deployed in Dorset.

JET Engineering System Solutions Ltd today announced the signing of a contract with Dorset Council to deliver a reduced carbon-footprint Aquaculture Monitoring System, made from sustainable materials and harnessing 5G network connectivity, for Jurassic Seafarms Ltd in Portland Harbour, Dorset, UK.

MEC (Multi-Access Edge Computing)

The 5GRD Project recently collaborated with the 5gem Project team to produce this mobile edge computing (MEC) paper. The projects share similar interests in MEC and 5G with 5gem, who are running manufacturing and automation trials. Our 5G agritech and robotic farming research will look at MEC for some of its analysis and processing and its hoped that this shared interest could pave the way for further collaboration.

Discovering Dorset’s 5G Future

This week the team took part in Government Digital Services week and gave a presentation about the project and how the research was designed around the needs of the people of Dorset and rural communities. We were joined by Wessex Internet for the talk which covered the consultation process we went through when planning the project, the work we’re currently undertaking and an update from Wessex about the agritech and robotic farming trials they’re delivering.
